Setting up black & white screen mode can significantly reduce blue light exposure and help prepare your mind for sleep.
Manual Setup
- Go to your device's Settings.
- Navigate to Accessibility > Display & Text Size.
- Enable Color Filters.
- Select Grayscale.
Manual Toggle Shortcut
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut.
- Select Color Filters.
- Triple-click the side button to toggle black & white mode.
Automatic Activation with Wind Down
To automatically enable black & white mode when your Wind Down period starts:
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
- Tap Automation at the bottom.
- Tap + to create a new automation.
- Select Sleep under Personal Automations.
- Choose Wind Down Begins.
- Tap Next.
- Tap Add Action.
- Search for Set Color Filters and select it.
- Set the toggle to On.
- Tap Next, then Done.
Turn It Off Automatically
- Create another automation following steps 1-4 above.
- Choose Wind Down Ends instead.
- Follow steps 6-8, but set the toggle to Off.
- Complete the setup with Done.
This way, your screen can automatically switch to grayscale during Wind Down and return to normal colors when it ends.
